I came to work at T K Barr Dental Care in September 2007 as a trainee Dental Nurse. I then qualified in 2010 as a SVQ Level 3 Dental Nurse.
I work with our Hygienist, Karen Nixon, and both our dentists, Kenny and Jolanta. Also, you’ll see me on the reception some days. I enjoy working in different roles as there is always something different every day.
I’ve been married for 4 years now to Ryan and have 2 beautiful children, Michael and Joanna.
As part of my job I meet patients when they come into surgery and try to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I also assist the Dentist in all aspects of the job.
I started as a trainee Dental Nurse in May 2000 and became a fully trained SVQ Level 3 Dental Nurse in July 2007. Over the years I have seen the practice grow from strength to strength and have a close working relationship with Kenny and his patients who I have known for many years.
My likes are spending time with my partner and my daughter and travelling to Lanzarote where I have been over 12 times.
I qualified as a Dental Hygienist 1996 at The Army School of Dental Hygiene in Aldershot. I served in the British Army until 2001. I served mainly in Germany with a deployment to Bosnia shortly after qualifying.
I then moved to Stranraer dividing my time between three practices. I now work solely at T K Barr Dental Care. When I’m not working I spend time with my children, although now they are teenagers, they’re not so keen on being seen with their mum in public. I also spend time cycling and running and walking in the surrounding area and the Galloway forest.
Mr Barr gave me my first job when leaving school at 16 years old; I worked 12 hours a week with our hygienist Karen as a trainee Dental Nurse. In 2006 I joined a large dental corporate company where I gained a lot of experience in various aspects of dentistry. After nearly 10 years, and a qualification in dental nursing, I had the opportunity to return to work in an independent dental practice, and here I am back with the team at T K Barr Dental Care, where it all began.
I now have a son Robbie who is nearly 5 years old and very much enjoy spending my time off with him and my partner Iain. My family and friends play a very important part in my life and any spare time I have I spend it with them doing things we love and enjoy (usually shopping and eating out.)
I am originally from Manchester. I started working at TK Barr Dental Care in 2003 and became a fully qualified dental nurse in 2007. I have worked with many different dentists over the years and gained a lot of experience and confidence in my job.
I have two beautiful children Georgy and Jessica with my partner James, we love family outings and visiting my family often in Manchester.
We like cooking good food and entertaining for our friends and family.
I was born in Bialystock in north-east part of Poland. I graduated in 1985 from the University of Bialystock. My first job was in a Public Health Centre, where I worked for 14 years. At the end of my job I worked as a senior dentist. For the next 8 years I worked in my own dental practice. I was awarded as a specialist in general dentistry and four years later as a specialist in children’s dentistry. In 2009 I wanted to join my husband Mariusz, who was working in London, to gain some experience of working with people abroad. We moved to Scotland, which is a very interesting country for us with its culture and history. It was a very big challenge. I started my first job in Scotland in 2009 in the Highlands.
In 2014 I moved to Stranraer and started working with T K Barr Dental Care, where I met very friendly and helpful staff and open-minded, warm patients. I have got two adult sons, who live in Scotland, and two wonderful grand-daughters. I love to visit new places with my husband, particularly the countryside. I spend my free-time walking, cycling, reading and improving my English. My main goal in my professional life has been making other people feel healthy and happy.
Kenny qualified from Glasgow University in 1989 and is the Principal Dentist. He practiced in Lanarkshire for several years before establishing the practice here in Stranraer in 1993.
He spends a good deal of his time on postgraduate development and encourages all team members to undertake further training. Kenny is particularly interested in advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry, helping all his patients achieve a healthy, confident smile. He is a family man with 3 children, one at school and the other two studying at University. He enjoys spending any spare time gardening, cycling and swimming.
